I'm Karen Slider, known to many as "KK." My journey began in South Central L.A., where I faced challenges that could have held me back—but I refused to let them define me. I went on to become the second Black female firefighter with the LAFD, breaking barriers and paving the way for others.
My book dives deep into my experiences, showing how I turned adversity into opportunity. But my story isn’t just about firefighting—it's also about creativity and self-expression. As an artist, my "Art In a Box" and paintings tell stories beyond words, each piece infused with passion and meaning.
